Coach and HGV drivers going into some EU countries need a GO Box road toll charging system.
GO Box or Electronic Road Toll Charging or Collection System is the device often used in the EU region for collecting road and other type tolls automatically. The German translation or actual wording in their language is simply Toll Collection System. Known as GO, the Box addition is an English additive as far as I can see which will perhaps become EU universal over time.
All the information you need to acquire a GO Box is on this page, such as a list of sales outlets complete with addresses and phone numbers if you would like to order one by post or collect from one of many fuel stations. The price was about £5.00 in 2007. The GO Box is available from circa 220 GO-service and sales outlets (mostly Petrol and Service Stations) in Austria and neighbouring countries.
The driver can easily and quickly mount the GO Box toll charging system himself/herself to the vehicle. Tolls are charged electronically either from a credit stored in the GO Box (pre-pay) or by deducting the amount easily and conveniently from a debit, credit or petrol card at a later date (post-pay).
Installation is free, as the driver can easily and quickly mount it. The GO Box can be attached to the windscreen with the adhesive tape supplied. The GO Box is powered by an internal Lithium Battery which lasts about 5 years. This means the GO Box should work straight from the box, forgive the pun!
The systems name in German is called: Maut system fur LKW und bus. Translated into English means: Toll system for trucks and bus.
Available below are the instructions for operating the GO Box which you can print out as an image on A4 paper.
